In May of 2016 Centennial Parklands reacquired the lease to Parklands Tennis Centre. It was decided that this would be an opportune time to carry out some repairs and resurfacing to some of the synthetic courts currently being utilised.
Centennial Parklands carried out a competitive tender process based around sub surface repairs to the courts caused by tree roots and the replacement of the existing synthetic surface. After reviewing the tenders based around;
- Recent works of similar nature
- Nominated synthetic surface to be used and an example of were currently in use
- Price -value and efficiencies in being able to do multiple courts
- Ability to complete the works prior to the end of financial year
Sportszone Group under Craig Bowron’s leadership were the successful tenderer.
The works where not without their challenges with the weather severely impacting on the works schedule with some 200mm of rain experienced in a 3 day period. Site access was restricted due to the condition of the open space areas. Throughout the work program I found Craig and his team easy to deal with, excellent on the communication and quickly adaptable to change given the working conditions. The efficiencies delivered by Sportszone allowed CP to successfully renovate 5 of the 9 courts. The quality of the works far exceeded the organisations expectations and have also resulted in multiple compliments from our tennis stakeholders and other patrons visiting the centre.
I would have no hesitation in engaging Sportszone again to carry out works at CP nor would I have any issue recommending them to other potential likeminded facilities
who are looking for a quality contractor who delivers on their promise. The works were delivered on time and on budget with no variations.
